Job summary

Ascension Seton Medical Center Austin in Austin, TX is seeking an Evening, Full-Time Sterile Processing Technician to operate sterilization equipment, decontaminate instruments, and validate instrument sets.

You will maintain inventory for case carts, perform quality assurance audits, and follow IFUs and standards. Certifications from CBSPD or Healthcare Sterile Processing Association are recommended, with a high school diploma or equivalent and 1+ year of sterile processing experience.

Qualifications

• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.

• Operates sterilization equipment and inspects instruments, equipment, and containers to ensure cleanliness and proper functioning.
• Performs decontamination of soiled instruments, sterilization containers and equipment according to IFUs and established protocols.
• Corrects instrument sets according to current standards, established count sheets and/or instrument tracking systems.
• Maintains proper levels of inventory to ensure availability for case carts.
• Perform regular quality assurance program audits of peers.

What minimum requirements you’ll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• Required Credential(s): One or more of the following: Central Service Tech specializing in Sterile Processing credentialed from the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
• Central Service Tech specializing in Sterile Processing credentialed from the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required. *Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.

Additional Preferences

• Evening Shift Monday - Friday 2:00pm - 10:30pm
• 1+ yrs. experience as a Certified Sterile Processing Tech
