Job summary

Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) is seeking a skilled Sterile Processing Technician to ensure decontamination, inspection, assembly, packaging, sterilization, and tracking of reusable surgical supplies and equipment.

You will work within CHOP's central sterile processing team, operating washers and endoscope equipment, while maintaining high standards of cleanliness, accuracy, and safety across all tasks.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma / GED required.
• Two or more years in central supply or OR processing preferred.
• CRCST/CSPDT certification upon hire required.

Responsibilities

• Ensures processing and assembly of medical supplies, equipment, and instrumentation in accordance with productivity measures.
• Operates washers, endoscope reprocessors, and sterilizers following policy.
• Transports soiled instruments per protocol and guidelines.
• Sorts soiled items for decontamination and safe reprocessing.
• Inspects instruments for cleanliness and working condition 100% of the time.
• Maintains complete instrument trays with 100% accuracy.
• Documents all steps accurately and initialed 100% of the time.
• Uses the SPM Instrument Tracking System for all work assignments.
• Ensures items for High Level Disinfected / Sterilized (HLD/S) follow approved modalities.
• Distributes HLD/S items to maintain integrity and proper documentation.
• Supports patient-specific case carts with correct items and complete sets when possible.
• Maintains clear and effective communication within the team.
• Attends departmental meetings and in-services.
• Follows mandated safety programs and dress codes 100% of the time.
