Overview

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance on supermarket refrigeration systems and self-contained temperature-controlled merchandisers, demonstrating operating knowledge with some guidance.
• Perform preventative maintenance including compressor change assists, leak searching, and coil washing.
• Detect and repair leaks, solder, diagnose airflow issues, install PVC drain pipes, replace motors, use meters and sensors, handle blower coils, fabricate supports, clean condensing units, repair Hussmann products, replace components, and assist with walk-in case installation under supervision.
• Complete work tickets, time sheets, and electronic communications accurately and professionally, utilizing handheld computers.
• Manage truck inventory and adhere to vehicle maintenance guidelines.
• Develop strong customer relations and communicate system issues professionally.
• Understand electrical schematics, TEV troubleshooting, and system properties like subcooling, superheat, and evacuation.
• Demonstrate knowledge of various motors, handle refrigerants safely, and perform additional assigned responsibilities.

Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma/GED required; HVAC-R Technical School Degree preferred.

Experience: External candidates need 5 years in the field or 3 years with a technical school certification; internal candidates need 1 year as a qualified technician with completed OJT and skills assessment.

Additional Requirements: Valid driver’s license, physical ability to perform job duties, excellent communication skills, mechanical aptitude, willingness to work nights/weekends, knowledge of refrigeration/HVAC, EPA 608 Certification, and strong decision-making skills.
