Job summary

Cumberland County Guidance Center in Southern New Jersey seeks a compassionate Certified Screener to join our Crisis Screening Center team. Provide crisis intervention, assessment, stabilization, and referrals for individuals in mental health emergencies.

Requires a Master’s or Bachelor’s in a mental health field with relevant experience, NJDMHS Crisis Training or eligibility, a valid New Jersey driver’s license, a clean driving record, and the ability to work overnight shifts.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in a mental health-related field from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a psychiatric setting.
  • OR
  • Bachelor's Degree in a mental health-related field from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of mental health experience, including at least one (1) year in a crisis, emergency, or acute care setting.
  • NJDMHS Crisis Training Certification or eligibility to obtain certification.
  • Valid New Jersey driver's license.
  • Clean driving record that meets insurance eligibility requirements.
  • Ability to work overnight shifts.
  • Strong clinical assessment, crisis intervention, communication, and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to crisis hotline calls and behavioral health referrals.
  • Conduct comprehensive mental health screenings and evaluations.
  • Provide crisis intervention and therapeutic support to individuals and families.
  • Assess risk factors, determine service needs, and recommend appropriate levels of care.

  • Assist in stabilizing individuals experiencing psychiatric or emotional distress.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation.
  • Collaborate with community providers, hospitals, law enforcement, and other stakeholders.
  • Participate in ongoing training, supervision, and professional development opportunities.

What You'll Do

As a Crisis Screening Center Certified Screener, you will:
