Job summary

Harris Elementary School in Woonsocket, RI is seeking a Certified School Nurse/Teacher to provide comprehensive health services and promote student well-being. You will coordinate health plans, administer care, and collaborate with educators to minimize absences and maximize learning time.

The role requires a Rhode Island RN license, a qualifying CNurse/Teacher program, and 3+ years of relevant nursing experience.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution as defined by RI Department of Education regulations.
Licensed as a Registered Nurse in Rhode Island.
Completion of an approved Certified School Nurse/Teacher program.
Minimum of 3 years of documented experience in public health, acute care, or long-term care nursing as a professional RN.
Ability to relate well with students and staff and establish good rapport.
Experience and/or knowledge of medical computer systems and computer entry.
Must be up-to-date on required immunizations.

Responsibilities

Administer nursing care under district policies and follow medical orders from the medical director.
Work with the principal, Director of Special Education, teachers, and administrators to develop the school health program.
Conduct immunizations, physical exams, and screenings as directed by RI health and education authorities.
Observe students regularly to detect health needs and provide treatments per standards and protocols.
Participate in implementing and evaluating student care.
Maintain confidential health records using Skyward.
