Job Summary / Purpose

The Respiratory Therapist II is a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) with knowledge of respiratory care and age-specific competence for all age groups serviced by the facility. The incumbent conducts themselves professionally and courteously with patients, physicians, visitors, and healthcare staff. They support departmental productivity and organizational objectives by functioning as an integrated team member and performing services within their scope of licensure. They embody the organization’s mission and values in offering hope and healing to all.

Essential Key Job Responsibilities
  • Administers aerosol and humidity therapy, oxygen therapy, aerosolized medication, and specialty gases.
  • Performs airway management, incentive spirometry, and bronchial hygiene including chest physiotherapy.
  • Cleans and reprocesses equipment, manages ventilators, and performs cardiopulmonary resuscitation and rapid response support.
  • Collects and reports arterial blood samples, performs pulmonary function testing, and overnight pulse oximetry.
  • Serves as preceptor and charge therapist as needed, and may assist in research projects.
  • Provides education to patients, families, and staff, and participates in meetings and committees.
  • Performs other duties within scope of licensure, including advanced procedures upon additional training and competency.
Qualifications

Education: Associate’s Degree in Cardiopulmonary Services or Respiratory Care from an accredited program.

Licensure & Certifications: KY Respiratory License, BLS-CPR, ACLS (within 90 days), NRP (within 90 days).

Skills & Abilities: Effective communication, critical thinking, time management, basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and electronic health records. Bilingual skills are a plus.

Experience: No prior experience required; 1+ year in critical care preferred.

Pay Range

$25.18 - $37.52/hour
