Job summary

Responsibilities include attending treatment team meetings, supporting benefit acquisition, facilitating engagement in outpatient services, and educating staff about peer support roles and consumer perspectives.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Peer Specialist Certification through State of Alabama Department of Mental Health is required.
• Must be 23 years of age and have a valid Alabama driver license with an acceptable driving record.
• Proof of current liability insurance required.
• Proficient in basic computer word-processing.

Responsibilities

• Promote self-determination, recovery, self-advocacy, and self-direction; assist individuals in identifying strengths, wellness goals, and barriers.
• Attend treatment team meetings to support self-directed advocacy and assist with goal planning.
• Help individuals obtain information about benefits (SSI, SSDI, Medicaid).
• Engage individuals in outpatient programs to encourage recovery and model self-advocacy.
