Job summary

Behavioral Health Network is seeking a Certified Peer Specialist to support individuals in their recovery journeys in Massachusetts. You will provide peer-based support, advocacy, and guidance while collaborating with a team of behavioral health professionals.

Requirements include lived recovery experience, a High School Diploma or GED, and Peer Specialist Certification or the ability to obtain within 1 year. Bilingual English/Spanish is required; ASL is preferred.

Qualifications

• Lived experience of a psychiatric diagnosis, extreme emotional states, or trauma.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Peer Specialist Certification required, or ability to obtain within 1 year of hire.
• One year of recovery experience required.
• Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation.
• Bilingual English/Spanish required; ASL proficiency preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support individuals in their recovery journeys using experiential knowledge and recovery examples.
• Model personal responsibility, self-advocacy, and hopefulness.
• Inspire hope as individuals navigate their recovery paths.
• Provide self-help education and connect individuals to recovery tools, peer supports, and community resources.
• Assist individuals in identifying goals and developing pathways to achieve them.
• Offer supportive listening and emotional support to those experiencing behavioral health challenges.
• Share information about community resources, housing supports, benefits resources, and events.
• Maintain current knowledge of recovery-oriented practices and peer support services through ongoing learning.
