Job summary

YMCA of Montclair is seeking a Certified Teacher-Preschool to join our Montclair team. The role requires upholding NJ DOE standards, providing a safe, engaging classroom environment, and leading educational activities for preschoolers within the Montclair Y program.

The teacher will supervise children, plan lessons, and reinforce learning with engaging activities while maintaining strong communication with families and directors. Expect a collaborative, mission-driven workplace.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years old or older.
• Must possess, maintain, and renew NJ DOE certifications as required.
• NJ P-3 teaching certification or Certificate of Eligibility is required.
• CPR for the Professional Rescuer, EPI, Asthma and First Aid trainings within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Greet each child and parent upon arrival.
• Plan and deliver instructional lessons aligned with the Montclair School District’s objectives.
• Supervise outdoor and indoor activities; ensure safety and cleanliness of the classroom.
• Mentor and supervise assistant teachers; attend mandatory trainings and meetings.
