Job summary

The YMCA Boroughs Family Branch is seeking a Preschool Teacher to provide classroom direction and implement a developmentally appropriate early education curriculum that promotes social, cultural, educational, physical and emotional growth.

Under the supervision of the Supervising Lead Teacher, you will supervise the classroom and staff, observe and evaluate children, and maintain positive relationships with families. Strong communication and dedication to YMCA values are essential.

Qualifications

• Meets educational and experience qualifications established by DEEC, NAEYC, and QRIS.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Preferred associate degree or enrollment in a college degree program.
• Must obtain CPR, First Aid and Child Abuse Prevention certification.
• Experience with children in a developmental setting preferred.
• Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate activities.
• ASL proficiency is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervises children, classroom, and staff; ensures safety.
• Designs and implements daily lesson plans for developmentally appropriate curriculum.
• Maintains classroom, equipment, and records (attendance, medical, food service).
• Conducts observations and evaluations according to schedule.
• Conducts parent conferences and maintains positive relationships with families.
• Posts schedule, curriculum, and menus according to regulation.
• Attends family nights, staff meetings, and YMCA events.
• Supports mission of the YMCA and Child Care Department.
• Ensures program quality and compliance with standards.
• Engages diverse populations and promotes inclusive communication.
