Job summary

WellSpan Health is seeking a PHLEBOTOMY TECHNICIAN for the Inpatient Phlebotomy department at WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital in Ephrata, PA. This PRN/Day Shift role requires willingness to work any 24-hour period with one weekend day per month. You will collect specimens, process them, and support on-site and off-site service areas.

Responsibilities include specimen handling, quality control, data entry, and patient instruction. Prior phlebotomy and basic life support are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Less than 1 year relevant experience required.
• Certified Phlebotomy Technician (ASCP)Upon Hire Preferred and
• Basic Life Support Upon Hire Preferred.
• Medical Terminology training Upon Hire Preferred and
• Phlebotomy Program Upon Hire Preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs duties at progressively greater skill levels under supervision, records results.
• Operates point-of-care laboratory instruments and performs quality control checks.
• Transcribes orders, receives and processes specimens, may deliver and store them.
• Receives and transports supplies, equipment, reports and specimens between locations.
• Collects specimens using appropriate equipment.
• Enters or retrieves data from established computer files.
• Provides complete, accurate instructions to patients and other customers.
• Resolves billing problems and insurance updates.
