Job summary

WellSpan Health in Gettysburg is seeking a Phlebotomy Technician to join the Gettysburg Phlebotomy Services team. This PRN position covers Day/Evening/Nights and may require on-call duties, performing specimen collection, processing, and related tasks.

You will engage with patients, ensure proper labeling, enter data, and maintain quality checks while adhering to safety and compliance standards. A high school diploma or GED and relevant experience are preferred; ASCP certification and BLS are

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Less than 1 year relevant experience required.
• Certified Phlebotomy Technician (ASCP) upon hire preferred.
• Basic Life Support upon hire preferred.
• Medical Terminology course upon hire preferred.
• Phlebotomy Program upon hire preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of duties at progressively greater skill levels under supervision, records results.
• Operates point of care laboratory instruments and performs quality control procedures.
• Transcribes orders, receives specimens, and may process and transport specimens.
• Collects specimens using appropriate collection methods and handles specimens.
• Enters or retrieves data from established computer files and maintains related records.
• Provides clear instructions to patients and other customers of the laboratory.
• Reviews physician orders for supporting documentation as needed.
• Resolves billing problems and/or insurance updates.
