University of California - Los Angeles Health is seeking a Certified Phlebotomy Technician to join Support Services in Los Angeles. You will triage lab samples, prepare specimens, and ensure accurate data entry and labeling.
Responsibilities include centrifugation, aliquoting, transport coordination, quality control, and assisting in training new staff while maintaining infection control principles.
Along with the other Certified Phlebotomy Technicians in Support Services, triage all lab samples and requests after verification of appropriate information, following written protocols. Centrifuge, measure and aliquot and/or preserve as needed. Enter and verify patient and test info into computer. Generate computer labels for specimens and deliver to appropriate areas. Prepare samples for transport to referral labs or storage as needed. File department documents in alphabetical or numerical order. Prepare written reports to document phlebotomy draws, test results, test added, or deleted/rejected specimens as required. Prepare batch or outside lab referral specimens' documentation as needed. Maintain PM charts. Support transports of specimens and blood products throughout the health system. Perform phlebotomy on in- and outpatients following established principles and procedures. Operate laboratory equipment. Assist in training new employees. Perform inventory as needed. Transport specimens and blood product as needed. Cleans and prepares glassware and other supplies as needed. Support workflow through rotating bench assignments and adjusting schedule as needed. Perform other duties as assigned.
