Job summary

Laboratory Assistant with FHCCGLA in California seeks a Phlebotomist Technician responsible for venipuncture, specimen collection, labeling and processing to support lab testing and patient care. Qualifications

• High school diploma, required.
• Certification with the American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians, Inc. and/or the National Phlebotomy Association (NPA).
• Current BLS Certification, required to be kept up to date.
• Two years of phlebotomy experience, preferred.
• FQHC experience, highly preferred.
• Strong communication skills, bilingual (English/Spanish).
• Willingness to travel to FHCCGLA sites and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Performs venipuncture, capillary punctures and other specimen collection procedures.
• Ensures patient identification using two identifiers before drawing blood.
• Labels and handles specimens according to protocols and lab standards.
• Maintains accurate records and data entry in EHR.
• Complies with HIPAA regulations and confidentiality.
• Maintains laboratory cleanliness and equipment calibration as required.
