Job summary

Qualifications

• Unlicensed laboratory personnel under supervision as per B&P C 1269.
• Evidence-based handling of specimens and lab requests.
• Ability to follow physician-directed reporting of results.

Responsibilities

• Draws blood from finger, heel, or vein using aseptic technique.
• Obtains correct specimen type and volume for tests.
• Documents all requests and released results accurately.
• Informs physicians of released lab results.
• Handles routing and processing of specimens.
• Orders, distributes and stocks lab supplies.
• Trains and reports on other Laboratory Assistants’ performance.
• Performs related duties as needed.
