Job summary

Qualifications

• Must be a certified Phlebotomist and hold a valid California Phlebotomy license (CPT).
• Minimum two (2) years of phlebotomy lab experience, preferably in a large, complex healthcare system.
• Demonstrated knowledge of medical and scientific terminology.
• Knowledge of laboratory regulations, safety standards, and ethical requirements.
• Knowledge of hospital isolation, infection control protocols, and patient comfort/safety.
• Demonstrated competency in specimen collection, specimen preparation, storage, and disposal procedures.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients, staff, and healthcare providers.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and provide excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

• Perform timely and accurate blood draws for inpatients, ED patients, and outpatients of all ages.
• Process specimens, accessioning, phlebotomy, heel and finger sticks.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment and inventory.
• Communicate effectively with laboratory customers and staff.
• Operate instruments and perform preventive maintenance as assigned.
