Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent (college courses preferred), 2–3 years of technician experience, and current registration/certification.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent. College courses preferred.
• Two to three years pharmacy technician experience preferred.
• Must possess or be eligible for pharmacy technician registration.
• Pharmacy technician certification required.
• Ability to perform work accurately with attention to detail within specified time periods.
• Ability to work cooperatively with health-system and pharmacy staff.
• Ability to handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workload and work schedule.
• Ability to set priorities and solve problems.
• Ability to respond quickly to emergency requests.
• Effective communication skills (orally and in writing).
• Ability to assist in meeting the pharmaceutical care needs of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.

Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist in pharmaceutical preparation, distribution, and record keeping functions of pharmaceutical supplies.
• Perform a variety of technical pharmacy services in the Department, designated satellites, and service and patient care areas.
