Job summary

Walgreens is hiring a Pharmacy Technician to provide order processing support for fulfillment and the preparation and distribution of prescription medications. You will follow SOPs and company policies.

Responsibilities include processing new patient registrations, handling refill requests, and troubleshooting missing information while adhering to HIPAA guidelines. You will assist pharmacists and ensure accuracy and quality in workflow.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Must obtain and maintain registration with the applicable state board of pharmacy.
• PTCB or exempt certification is required.
• Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Basic level PC skills and Internet search ability.
• Intermediate keyboarding (≥25 WPM) with typing proficiency.
• Able to push, pull, lift and carry up to 50 pounds, with or without accommodation.
• Able to work a flexible shift and be 18 years of age or older.

Job Summary

Responsible for providing order processing support for fulfillment and/or assistance in the preparation and distribution of prescription medication via the use of the fulfillment system. Follows standard operating procedures and performs duties in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Job Responsibilities

• Using Walgreens prescription data entry procedures and guidelines, process new patient registration by entering data into the appropriate system. Handle patient prescription requests within HIPAA guidelines and enter refill orders for processing. Troubleshoot to obtain missing prescription information and interpret medical abbreviations (SIG codes). Resolve all data entry related exceptions.
• Run automated machinery, sort medications, and transition inventory through different workflow stages with a focus on quality control.
• Count and fill prescriptions, affix labels, pack and ship. Clean and help maintain machinery and maintain an orderly work area.
• Resolve third‑party rejects by reviewing, gathering information, making corrections, and resubmitting for processing according to individual plan requirements.
• Provide assistance to pharmacists, both those in the facility and those at other locations. Identify and communicate issues to senior level staff as appropriate.

Basic Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Must obtain and maintain registration with the applicable state board of pharmacy in good standing.
• PTCB or except certification.
• Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Basic level PC skills (e.g., start up and shut down computer, use mouse to point and click, start and close programs, switch between programs, save files, print documents, or access information online).
• Basic search engine skills to include opening a browser, typing URLs in the correct location, using a search engine, bookmarking a site, navigating using back or forward or stop buttons, and filling out forms online.
• Intermediate level keyboarding skills (at least 25 WPM, touch typing, formatting documents).
• Willing and able to perform tasks which include pushing, pulling, grasping and lifting with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Willing and able to carry up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Willing and able to work a flexible shift.
• 18 years of age or older.

Preferred Qualifications

• At least one year of pharmacy technician experience in a retail, fulfillment or call center environment.
• Experience providing customer service to internal and external customers, including meeting quality and productivity standards for services.
• Intermediate to advanced level keyboarding skills (at least 35 WPM, touch typing, formatting documents).
