Tschiffely Pharmacy, a long-standing independent downtown DC pharmacy, seeks a pharmacy technician to perform non-sterile compounding and support front-end operations. Job Description About the job: Tschiffely Pharmacy is a small independent retail pharmacy located downtown on K Street, NW near George Washington University Hospital with 150 years of excellence in pharmaceutical services. Tschiffely Pharmacy specializes in compounding, and vaccination services are not provided. We are seeking a pharmacy technician to do non-sterile compounding; experience is a plus but not needed. Desire to learn new compounding techniques and to prepare high-quality compounded medications under the supervision of the pharmacist. You will work the pharmacist filling prescriptions, compounding orders, and compound non-sterile medications following formulas provided by the pharmacist. The pharmacy technician will work following the District of Columbia, and federal regulations, using our pharmacy prescription software to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. The pharmacy technician will also handle learning the pharmacy prescription system and point-of-sale system to help customers with over-the-counter needs, information and checkouts. The applicant should be personable, enthusiastic about healthcare, organized and keep an elevated level of customer service. The pharmacy technician must be registered with Washington DC Board of Pharmacy and have a current pharmacy technician license.
Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED (Required) Work Experience: 1-3 years’ experience as a Pharmacy Technician
Greets customers and patients by helping with products and services, answering any questions and resolving any problems that may arise. Perform duties as assigned by pharmacist including utilizing pharmacy’s prescription system for entering patient and drug information, filling prescriptions, verifying prescriptions are filled correctly, and checking for any possible interactions. Generate any necessary reports, assigned by the pharmacist, report any prescription errors to pharmacist on duty. Follows pharmacy’s policies and procedures, code of conduct practices and keeps a good working relationship with coworkers. Help customers with finding any OTC products and handle checking out customers at the point-of-sale register. Answer and handles telephone calls. Handle third party program prescription services (process, corrects and resubmits) and any other clerical duties assigned by pharmacist. Helps with ordering, unpacking, checking and safely storing pharmaceuticals. Maintain a good relationship with the medical community. Help with cleaning and organizing pharmacy prescription area.

Pay: $54,000.00 - $62,000.00 per year
Expected hours: 40 per week; 8:30 am – 5:00 pm (Monday-Friday); Rotating Saturday schedule (9:00 am – 12:00 pm)

Pharmacy Technician License registered with the DC Board of Health in Washington, DC – maintains and attend continuing education courses for license renewal (Required). PTCB Certification and maintains certification (Required; will work with applicant to obtain PTCB within six months of hiring).
