Job summary

Pharmacy Solutions in Texas seeks a Compounding Pharmacy Technician to join a 34-year team. You will assist the pharmacist in the clean room, compound medications, and help ensure safety and accuracy following USP guidelines. The role is full-time and in person, with opportunities to learn and grow.

Required include 1 year as a certified Pharmacy Technician and a Texas CPhT; a high school diploma is also needed. Fast-paced environment, with varied tasks and patient-focused care.

Qualifications

  • 1 year of verified Pharmacy Technician experience or more.
  • Current Texas Pharmacy Technician Certificate (CPhT) required.
  • Experience with compounding creams, capsules, troches is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist pharmacist with non-sterile compounding per USP 795/800.
  • Follow SOPs, record procedures, monitor lot and expiry.
  • Coordinate to compile preparations and perform QA.
  • Maintain equipment cleanliness and calibration.
  • Track inventories and restock supplies.
  • Operate aseptic compounding areas and ensure hygiene.

The Compounding Pharmacy Technician will assist the pharmacist with providing safe and appropriate pharmacy services to our patients in accordance with the policies and procedures of Pharmacy Solutions, the state’s professional standards, and other regulatory entities. The Compounding Technician works under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, working in the clean room and compounding medication. A compounding Technician is experienced in all aspects of medication compounding and plays a significant role in the coordination of patient services.

Compounding Pharmacy Technician Duties and Responsibilities
  • Demonstrates ability to perform non-sterile compounding per strict USP 795/800 guidelines
  • Follow all SOPs, USP and all other safety and company policies, double check calculations, record compounding procedures, lot and expiry of ingredients.
  • Coordinate with other pharmacy team members to compound preparations and execute quality assurance procedures, following standard operating procedures
  • Ensure all compounds are prepared in accordance to the master formulas and in accordance with USP<795>, USP <797>, and USP<800>. Responsible for inspection, maintenance, cleaning, and sterilization of all laboratory equipment, instruments, utensils, and work surfaces necessary/required for the preparations
  • Monitor and record inventory of chemicals, materials, consumables, and other required items.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures
  • Keep equipment operating by following operating instructions
  • Update job knowledge by participating in training opportunities
  • Enhance organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests, exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
  • Demonstrates proficiency with following direction
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt with change of workflow
  • Properly use, calibrate and maintains equipment needed in making of compounds
  • Sampling batches for quality testing. Executes required in-process product quality checks and documents accurately
  • Perform miscellaneous inventory of consumables to ensure proper stock
  • Operate, clean and sterilize aseptic compounding equipment and compounding areas
  • Maintain housekeeping standards in the compounding areas
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by supervisor
  • Ensure all calculations on compounding log sheets are accurate and correct
  • Tracking, ordering, and receiving orders of supplies
  • Cleaning of all work areas, including work surfaces, equipment, floors, walls etc,
Compounding Pharmacy Technician Requirements and Qualifications
  • 1 year of experience as a certified Pharmacy Technician Required
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Current Texas Pharmacy Technician Certificate – CPhT
  • 1 year of sterile compounding lab or non-sterile compounding lab experience a plus
  • Experience with Compounder/PK Software a plus
  • Experience with compounding creams, capsules, and troches a plus
  • Ability to cope with varied levels of workload and multiple tasks
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both orally and written
  • Willingness to be a team player and promote a positive team environment
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Flexible and proactive to meet varied patient and company needs
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently

  • Able to read, write, and speak English properly, other languages a plus
