Job summary

Unity Health Care in Washington, DC is seeking a Certified Pharmacy Technician to provide a full range of technical support duties within the pharmacy under the supervision of the Pharmacist.

You will assist with prescription preparation, medication distribution, inventory control, data integrity, and compliance with federal and DC regulations; strong computer skills and knowledge of pharmacy practices are required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Six (6) months of experience as a Pharmacy Technician in a hospital, outpatient, or retail pharmacy.
  • Technical computer skills, including working knowledge of relational databases.
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical and pharmacy practices obtained through coursework or on-the-job training.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and DC government regulations and guidelines pertaining to pharmacy.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare prescriptions by counting the exact number of dosages to be dispensed.
  • Prepare unit dose and watch-take medications.
  • Refer physician calls and customer medical questions to the Pharmacist.
  • Implement inventory control procedures and order stock under the direction of the Pharmacist and within regulatory guidelines.
  • Perform regular checks for expired medications.
  • Deliver medications to inmates.
  • Provide technical assistance to the Pharmacy.
  • Maintain pharmacy databases to support data integrity and adherence to user standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Summary
