Job summary

MercyOne Central Iowa Medical Center is seeking a full-time pharmacy technician to support patient care by delivering medications to bedsides and assisting in the preparation and distribution of sterile products. Under supervision of a licensed pharmacist, you will assist with the prescription process and coordination of care to ensure smooth transitions from hospital to home.

• National Pharmacy Technician Certification required.
• Registration with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy at time of hire (or proof).
• Mandatory Reporter abuse training within three months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Function as a meds to beds pharmacy technician to deliver filled prescriptions directly to patients' bedside prior to discharge.
• Facilitate the transition from hospital to home by managing the prescription process, including collecting history, processing insurance, coordinating with healthcare teams, and reducing the need for post-discharge pharmacy stops.
• Maintains knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, Trinity Health’s Integrity Program, Standards of Conduct, and other policies to ensure ethical, professional behavior.

Essential Functions

• Function as a meds to beds pharmacy technician to deliver filled prescriptions directly to patients' bedside prior to discharge.
• Facilitate the transition from hospital to home by managing the prescription process, including collecting history, processing insurance, coordinating with healthcare teams, and reducing the need for post-discharge pharmacy stops.
• Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, Trinity Health’s Organizational Integrity Program, Standards of Conduct, as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical, and professional behavior.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED when nationally certified through NHA.
• PTCB nationally certified technicians do NOT require HS diploma or GED.
• National Pharmacy Technician Certification and Registered with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy at time of hire and proof of.
• Completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training for child and dependent adult abuse within three (3) months of hire.
