Job summary

Hy-Vee Fairfield is seeking a Certified Pharmacy Technician to support pharmacists in prescription processing, insurance billing, and customer service in a busy retail setting. You will prepare medications, label containers, stock supplies, and assist with vaccination services where permitted by law.

A high school diploma and national certification/license are required, with ongoing continuing education to maintain credentials.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Certified Pharmacy Technician license/credential required; must maintain continuing education.
• Vaccination certification required if administering vaccines, as required by law.

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, friendly customer service by greeting customers and making interactions positive.
• Handle customer inquiries that do not require a pharmacist's expertise.
• Process new prescription orders and refill requests under pharmacist supervision.
• Contact doctors' offices to clarify or request refill prescriptions as needed.
• Gather and maintain accurate patient information for prescriptions and insurance billing.
• Assist pharmacists in preparing prescription drugs and labeling containers for dispensing.
• Submit insurance claims and troubleshoot third-party billing as needed.
• Stock and inventory control, log invoices and maintain pharmacy area cleanliness.
• Maintain patient confidentiality per HIPAA and follow all regulations.
• Support vaccination services where certified, and assist with related documentation.
