Job summary

MercyOne Central Iowa Medical Center in Des Moines, IA is seeking a full-time Pharmacy Technician to provide technical support in delivering pharmaceutical care, including preparation and delivery of medications and sterile products, under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. Rotating Shift.

You will perform meds-to-beds delivery, manage the prescription process with insurance coordination, and collaborate with healthcare teams to support a smooth hospital-to-home transition for patients.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED when nationally certified through NHA.
• PTCB nationally certified technicians do NOT require HS diploma or GED.
• National Pharmacy Technician Certification and Registered with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy at time of hire and proof of.
• Completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training within three months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Function as a meds-to-beds pharmacy technician to deliver filled prescriptions bedside before discharge.
• Facilitate hospital-to-home transition by managing the prescription process and coordinating with healthcare teams.
• Manage history collection, insurance processing, and reduce post-discharge pharmacy stops.
• Adhere to federal, state, and local laws and Trinity Health policies with professional integrity.

Technical support includes the preparation and delivery of medications and sterile products, stocking and ordering of drugs and other products. Technical work is performed under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Function as a meds to beds pharmacy technician to deliver filled prescriptions directly to patients' bedside prior to discharge.
• Facilitate the transition from hospital to home by managing the prescription process, including collecting history, processing insurance, coordinating with healthcare teams, and reducing the need for post-discharge pharmacy stops.

Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, Trinity Health’s Organizational Integrity Program, Standards of Conduct, as well as other policies and proceduresin ordertoensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical, and professional behavior.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma or GED when nationally certified through NHA.
