Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a Certified Pharmacy Technician at Jersey City Medical Center to assist pharmacists in patient care and operations. Key duties include collecting and processing medication orders, refilling unit-dose bins, maintaining dispensing machines, and ensuring accurate drug preparation and labeling.

This hourly role requires a high school diploma, fluent English, and PTCB certification within six months of hire.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must be able to read, write, and speak fluent English.
• PTCB certification required within six months of hire date.

Responsibilities

• Collecting and processing medication orders prior to distribution.
• Drug distribution: refilling unit-dose medication bins and delivering contents to nursing units.
• Maintenance of all automatic dispensing machines
• Removing expired medication from stock
• Restocking code carts
• Preparing and labeling outpatient prescriptions
• Preparing and labeling extemporaneously compounded non-sterile pharmaceuticals
• Sterile and non-sterile product preparation
• Performing required calculations for all medication dispensing and compounding
• Using aseptic techniques
• Maintains the integrity of laminar air flow hoods by cleaning and following procedures
• Monitoring IV schedules and unused IV solutions on select nursing units to increase efficiency and avoiding waste
