Qualifications

Certified Peer Support Specialist

We are hiring for a dedicated and personable professional to deliver recovery‑oriented services to individuals receiving Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) and Substance Abuse Intensive Outpatient Program (SAIOP) services. By leveraging lived experience with mental health and/or substance use recovery, the Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS) will provide individualized support that promotes self‑determination, empowerment, resilience, and recovery. The CPSS works as a valued member of the treatment team, offering a lived‑experience perspective, fostering hope, and integrating each individual’s preferences and goals into all aspects of care.

Position Details

Pay: $16 per hour

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 40‑hour work week, flexible schedule with no on‑call hours

Location: Alexander County

Job Responsibilities

Position Requirements
  • Must be a Certified Peer Support Specialist in North Carolina.
  • One year of experience working with individuals with behavioral health issues preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and reliable transportation.
  • Pre‑employment screening: criminal background check, name check in registries (OIG exclusions database, Child Abuse Registry, and Offenders Against Individuals with Developmental Disabilities), drug testing, education verification, and other credentialing as required.
  • Proof of employment history or references (if required).
  • When driving is part of the role, proof of driver’s license, insurance, and vehicle may be required to provide transportation for individuals.
