Position: Certified Peer Specialist (CORE)

Code: 2018:SPECIALI-018 | Location: Milwaukee | Department: Wraparound | Status: Full Time

Job Responsibilities

Provides peer support to youth and young adults experiencing their first episode of psychosis, as part of the CORE team. Responsibilities include providing support, education, mentoring, and role modeling to promote wellness, purpose, relationship development, and recovery insights.

  1. Provide one-to-one peer support to youth and young adults with mental health needs.
  2. Role model recovery and engage youth/young adults using lived experience.
  3. Assess strengths and abilities from a recovery perspective.
  4. Collaborate with the CORE team to meet youth/young adult needs.
  5. Support engagement in mental health services, accompany to appointments and community activities.
  6. Listen and demonstrate positive communication skills.
  7. Advocate for youth/young adults to meet life needs.
  8. Participate in developing and implementing the Plan of Care and Crisis Plan.
  9. Connect youth/young adults to community resources based on their interests.
  10. Complete paperwork per agency requirements.

Attend and participate in staffing, meetings, and consultations. Assist with coverage and perform other duties as necessary.

Qualifications

Minimum: High school diploma or GED/HSED, certified Peer Specialist, no disqualifying convictions, good communication skills, and completion of required training.
