Job description

A unique opportunity for recovery coaches and peers to have a voice and make a difference!

Marigold Health is looking for an innovative peer/recovery coach to help people find their path to wellness and reduced substance use utilizing a new model for technology-enabled peer support. The opportunity may be for full or part-time depending on our needs and your experience. Our app operates 24/7 with shifts ranging from 8 AM to 1 AM EST per day.

Marigold Health exists to give every person with a mental health or substance use condition a place to feel heard. Our work is focused on providing evidence-based, virtual peer support to people interested in recovery and/or in reducing harm from substance use.

We've designed a novel program that augments the work peers do with technology ranging from automated, interactive outreach to individuals to asynchronous, digital group discussions. Marigold's mobile app provides multiple avenues for people in recovery to build their recovery capital and expand their community networks.

We are looking for someone to join our team that has great communication skills and is excited to bring peer support/recovery coaching to a virtual platform. You will consistently drive member interaction, participation, and engagement within our app Groups and Forums, ensuring a valuable experience where members can learn from each other and get support in their recovery journeys.

What You'll Do
  • App Chat Moderation & Engagement
  • Stimulate meaningful conversations by initiating chat starters, particularly those related to recovery experiences. Share personal lived experience with mental health and/or addiction to support others seeking/maintaining recovery.
  • Use your experience to identify and engage a network of referring agencies as well as add to the database of member resources.
  • Oversee group chats and forum discussions to ensure a productive, on-topic environment that adheres to Marigold’s Code of Conduct (COC) guidelines by monitoring hate speech, spam, inappropriate language, or abusive content to maintain a safe space for all members.
  • Review flagged content based on Natural Language Processing (NLP) alerts, and take action as necessary, such as removing COC-violating content.
  • Engage in follow-up with members about next steps when a violation occurs and involve the appropriate peer support team member if needed.
  • Member Management
  • Actively welcome and engage new members as they join the app community, making them feel supported from day one.
  • Pause or remove members from groups when necessary, or work with the app administrators to address more serious issues.
  • Monitor crisis situations and ensure a Peer Support Specialist/Recovery Coach follows up with members who require additional support.
  • Document your work in our record systems according to Marigold and prevailing standards.
What You Have
  • Completion of relevant training courses (certification ready) as a Peer Specialist or Recovery Coach in substance use disorder or mental health recovery in your state of residence. Recovery Coach in Massachusetts is strongly preferred.
  • Reliable access to internet in a private space (we provide equipment, e.g., laptop)
  • Comfort operating a smartphone, computer, and software tools such as Microsoft Office, Teams
  • Ability to document member engagements in an electronic record
  • A willingness to speak to your personal lived experience with mental health and/or substance use conditions
  • An ability to work independently, combined with a comfort-level and clear understanding of when to reach out with questions or requests for clarification
  • Demonstrated ability to create wellness plans and/or recovery goals
  • Ability to adapt and prioritize tasks to meet the needs of members
  • A willingness to work evening and weekend hours
And the following would be nice
  • Experience delivering peer support digitally (e.g., on social media) is a significant plus
  • Fluency in Spanish is a significant plus
Reporting, Compensation, & Benefits
  • You will report to the Manager of Peer Services
  • This is a full-time, exempt, salaried role
  • The hourly rate for this role will be $25.00 per hour
  • 3 days of PTO
  • Access to a 401k
  • Company-provided equipment to complete your job
