Job summary

AdventHealth Lake Wales in Florida is seeking a dedicated patient care technician to join our trusted team. You will provide age-appropriate patient care under the direction of a registered nurse, support safety and infection-control practices, and participate in performance improvement activities.

Excellent communication with patients, families, and healthcare staff is essential. Required: High School grad or equivalent, BLS/CPR, CNA or CPCT/A or NCPCT or PCT-C or EMT certifications; 1+ PCT

Qualifications

• High School Grad or Equiv required.
• 1+ applicable PCT experience preferred.
• Previous bedside patient care in an acute care unit, unit secretary, monitor technician, or equivalent medical experience preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR certification required.
• Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) required OR multiple equivalent patient care tech certifications (CPCT/A, NCPCT, PCT-C, EMT) required.

Responsibilities

• Performs treatments according to policy and procedure, providing patient care appropriate to age, mobility, acuity, and culture.
• Functions appropriately in clinical emergencies.
• Participates in performance improvement activities and supports quality standards.
• Follows isolation guidelines and safety regulations; uses PPE and enforces safety policies.
• Assists in patient care under the direction of a registered nurse and documents procedures as required.

Job Description:

• Performs treatments according to policy and procedure, providing patient care appropriate to age, mobility, acuity, and culture.

• Follows prescribed isolation guidelines, demonstrates appropriate use of protective equipment, performs handwashing according to policy, and enforces safety regulations.
• Exhibits a desire to learn and upgrades skills continuously.
• Communicates effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
• Maintains a clean and safe environment for patients and staff.
• Assists in the delivery of patient care as a team member under the direction of a registered nurse.
• Documents and reports all procedures in accordance with department policy.
• Participates in obtaining a nursing history and reports abnormalities to the registered nurse.
• Assists in identifying patient needs
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education:

Work Experience:

• 1+ applicable PCT experience [Preferred]
