Certified Patient Care Assistant PCU Unit

Position Overview

Banner Baywood Medical Center is seeking a Certified Patient Care Assistant for our Progressive Care Unit (PCU). The PCU is a high-acuity, 80-bed inpatient unit focusing on adult and geriatric patient care, serving as a step down from Critical Care/ICU. The typical patient ratio is 1/10-12, with care for diverse conditions including acute and chronic diseases with multiple co-morbidities.

Work Details

Shifts available: Day (6am-6:30pm) and Night (6pm-6:30am). You can utilize our self-scheduling tool for shift and weekend coverage. Benefits include an 18% night shift differential and a flat $1/hour weekend shift differential.

Position Responsibilities

• Assist with activities of daily living, promote patient comfort, and support overall patient care plans.
• Collect patient data such as vital signs, input/output, and specimens; document accurately.
• Recognize and report health status changes to licensed professionals.
• Perform delegated procedures (e.g., blood draws, Foley catheter removal, EKGs) under supervision.
• Support unit operations with clerical duties, supply management, and documentation.
• Transport patients as needed and assist with unit turnover.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED.
• Current BLS certification.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in state of practice.
• Approximately 1 year of medical clerical or healthcare experience preferred.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and computer skills.

Additional Requirements

• Successful completion of ECG/EKG interpretation test or course.
• Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card or relevant state clearance for applicable facilities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA) licensure in Arizona.
• Recent healthcare experience or completion of a unit secretary program.
