Job summary

CHA Cambridge Hospital is seeking a certified Pathology Assistant to join the Pathology Department. Under supervision of Lab Director and Associate Pathologist, you will assist in preparing human surgical specimens and ensure accurate gross descriptions.

Responsibilities include gross description, dictation with Dragon Voice, tissue dissection, cassette labeling, printing cassettes, and documenting IHC and special stains.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in biomedical/health sciences or equivalent.
• Completion of NAACLS accredited Pathologist’s Assistant program is required.
• Current Pathologist’s Assistant certification with good status is required; 3+ years in clinical pathology is preferred.
• Experience with dictation and pathology computer systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide gross descriptions of surgical specimens accurately and efficiently.
• Use Dragon Voice recognition for dictation and templates; troubleshoot issues.
• Dissect tissue and place into labeled cassettes for processing; print cassettes as needed.
• Complete worksheets; ensure correct transcription of specimen comments, IHC, and special stains.
• Perform frozen sections with staining and deliver slides within time limits.
