Job summary

Responsibilities

• Manage 30–50 active estate and trust matters under supervising attorney.
• Handle NJ and NY probate filings, IT-R returns, marshaling assets, claims, and releases.
• Draft wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and advance directives from instructions and templates.
• Run signings and fund trusts after execution.
• Communicate with clients and coordinate with banks as needed.

Job description

We are looking for a certified paralegal who already knows how to run an estate from the Surrogate's Court to the final release, and who wants to own that work rather than hand it off.

LOBEJ is a boutique, multi-practice firm licensed in New Jersey and New York. Estates and trusts is the core of what we do: probate and estate administration, wills and trust drafting, trust administration, and supplemental needs trusts, with a growing niche in digital asset and AI legacy planning. The firm runs on Clio, Lawmatics, Dialpad, and Microsoft 365, and we build systems so the work is clear and the credit is yours.

What the job is

You will carry 30 to 50 active estate and trust matters with a supervising attorney behind you, not over your shoulder. That means NJ and NY probate and administration filings, inheritance tax waivers and IT-R returns, marshaling assets, creditor claims, accountings, refunding bonds and releases, and the client calls that come with all of it. On the planning side, you will draft wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and advance directives from attorney instructions and firm templates, run signings, and fund the trusts afterward.

Who does well here

• Certified paralegals (NALA CP, NFPA CRP, or an ABA-approved certificate) with 3+ years of New Jersey estate administration; New York Surrogate's Court experience is a real advantage
• People who keep their own deadline calendar and do not need to be reminded about an inheritance tax filing
• Clear writers who can explain a refunding bond to a beneficiary in two sentences
• Anyone who has talked a bank through releasing an account with an L-8 and lived to tell about it
• Comfortable in Clio and Lawmatics, or quick to learn them

What we offer

• Base salary of $45,000- $85,000, depending on experience, plus a billable-hour bonus program built for paralegals
