Job summary

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technician program (CST or TS-C) or documented proof of prior employment as a surgical technologist
• Current CST or TS-C certification or LVN status
• BLS Healthcare Provider certification per RQI guidelines
• Must read and comprehend perioperative operations; basic keyboarding and Windows literacy

Responsibilities

• Passes instruments on all procedures or acts as an assistant and holds retractors as needed
• Practices aseptic technique and maintains room preparation before surgery and cleanup after surgery
• Ensures instruments, supplies, and equipment are available for surgical procedures
• Takes assigned call as required
• Demonstrates knowledge of age-specific needs and patient diversity throughout perioperative care
• Involves in cost containment activities within the Operating Room
