Job summary

St Mary's Hospital in Kankakee, IL is seeking a Certified Operating Room Tech to support sterile technique, prep sterile supplies and instruments, maintain the sterile field, and provide instruments to the surgeon during procedures on the day shift.

The ideal candidate will graduate from an ORT program or have equivalent on-the-job training, hold current Certified Surgical Technologist credential, have BLS, and show experience scrubbing diverse surgical specialties; this is a full-time position

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent is required for new hires.
• Graduate of an ORT training program or on-the-job training with a minimum of 3 years’ experience (surgical setting preferred).
• Current Certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST).
• Experience scrubbing minor and major procedures across generalized and specialty surgeries (e.g., GYN, General, Plastics; ortho, neuro, ENT).
• Current BLS (AHA) certification upon hire and maintained.

Responsibilities

• Prepare sterile supplies and instruments, maintain sterile field, and assist surgeon by providing required items during procedures.

Responsibilities

The Certified Operating Room Tech is responsible for the preparation of sterile supplies and instruments for each assigned procedure, maintaining sterile field during case and providing surgeon with sterile supplies and instruments during assigned procedures.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

• High School Diploma or Equivalent or related experience required for new hires effective April 2014.
• Graduate of an ORT training program or on the job training with a minimum of 3 years’ experience (surgical setting preferred).
• Current Certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist.
• Experience in scrubbing minor and major procedures in the generalized surgical specialties, (i.e., GYN, General and Plastics).
• Experience in scrubbing at least minor procedures in the specialty surgical areas (i.e., ortho, neuro, ENT, Uro. Etc.).
• Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
