Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Ophthalmic Surgical Assistant (OSA) certification required.
• 2–3 years of experience in a supervised ophthalmology procedural area.
• Strong knowledge of ocular terminology, anatomy and physiology.
• Infection prevention, aseptic technique, and instrument sterilization expertise.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and patient-care skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-operative testing and prepare patients for surgery.
• Provide pre- and post-operative education to patients.
• Identify and administer ophthalmic medications and eye drops as directed.
• Assist in OR setup, equipment calibration, and sterile field preparation.
• Support surgeon during procedures by providing instruments and supplies.
• Sterilize surgical instruments per hospital protocols.
• Prioritize tasks and communicate with care team to maintain flow.
• Handle administrative duties like chart prep and triage calls.
• Support cross-coverage across services and locations as needed.
• Follow all policies and regulations for patient safety.
