Responsibilities include: accurately coding, complete, and concurrent abstraction of oncology patient data for administration, clinical trials, research, reporting, certifications, and quality improvement within Oncology Services. Requires excellent computer skills, ability to work independently and remotely, and maintaining patient information confidentiality. Tasks include case finding, abstracting cancer cases, staging, coding all treatments and follow-up activities, and identifying/reporting discrepancies in the EMR.

Minimum Qualifications

Education, Certification, and/or Licensure:

• Associate degree in health sciences or related field with completed courses in Anatomy and Physiology, and Medical Terminology.
• Must obtain Oncology Data Specialist credential (ODS-C) within two years of hire, with annual CE maintenance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Completed college courses in Pathology.

Experience

• Two years of medical office experience with knowledge of malignant diseases, tumor classification, and medical terminology.

Core Duties and Responsibilities
