Job summary

Mercy in Missouri is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant. You will assist with initial patient assessments under the direction of OTR/L and implement treatment plans per department policies.

The role requires graduation from an accredited OTA program, a current OTA license (or eligibility), and BLS certification. One year of experience is preferred, but new graduates are welcome to apply.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Occupation Therapist Assistant program.
• Current license for Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant or eligible for licensure in state of practice.
• One year experience preferred; new graduates considered.
• BLS certification; required certifications must be current before assigned to care for patients independently.
• Knowledge of special needs and behaviors of neonatal to geriatric age groups.

Responsibilities

• Assist with initial patient assessment per directions from OTR/L.
• Document course of patient care including progress notes and continuing need for treatment.
• Administer modalities, exercise regimes, or treatment procedures according to department policies.
• Maintain progress notes and departmental records on each patient.
• Promote education within the department.
• Demonstrate knowledge of age-specific needs from neonatal to geriatric.
• Perform miscellaneous duties as directed by the Inpatient Physical Medicine Supervisor.
