Job summary

Mercy Hospital St. Louis Occupational Therapy Assistant assists with objective assessments and comprehensive individualized treatment programs for patients of all ages under the supervision of a licensed OT. The role follows departmental policies and Mercy Service Standards and supports education within the department.

Qualified candidates are OTA graduates with current BLS certification and licensure eligibility. One year of experience is preferred; new graduates are welcome.

Qualifications

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
  • Current BLS certification; licensure must be current or eligible in state of practice.
  • One year of experience preferred; new graduates considered.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with initial assessment on each patient under direction from OT supervisor and according to departmental policies and procedures.
  • Document the course of patient care including progress notes and the continuing need for treatment.
  • Administer appropriate modalities, exercise regimes, or treatment procedures according to departmental policies and procedures.
  • Maintain progress notes and departmental records on each patient according to departmental policies regarding documentation and charges.
  • Participate in promoting education within the department.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of special needs and behaviors of specific age groups to include neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric.
  • Perform miscellaneous job duties observed as directed by the Inpatient Physical Medicine Supervisor.
