Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant for inpatient care. Under supervision of an OT, you will assist with initial patient assessments and develop individualized treatment plans across age groups, from neonatal to geriatric.

You will document progress and ensure compliance with department policies and charges. Responsibilities include administering appropriate modalities and exercises, maintaining progress notes, and promoting department education.

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapist Assistant program.
• Current license for Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant or eligible for licensure in state of practice.
• One year experience preferred but will consider new graduates.
• BLS certification required and must be current before caring for patients independently.

Responsibilities

• Assist with initial assessment on each patient under OT direction and per policies.
• Document course of patient care including progress notes and treatment needs.
• Administer modalities, exercise regimes, or treatment procedures per policies.
• Maintain progress notes and department records and ensure proper documentation and charges.
• Participate in department education and training activities.
• Demonstrate knowledge of needs across neonatal to geriatric ages.
• Perform miscellaneous duties as directed by Inpatient Physical Medicine Supervisor.

• Assist with initial assessment on each patient upon receiving direction from O.T.R./L. and according todepartmental policies and procedures.
• Document the course of patient care including progress notes and the continuing need for treatment according to departmental policy.
• Administer appropriate modalities, exercise regimes, or treatment procedures according to departmental policies and procedures on standards of treatment care.
• Maintain progress notes and departmental records on each patientaccording to departmental policies regarding documentation and charges.
• Participate in promoting education within the department
• Demonstrates knowledge of special needs and behaviors ofspecific age groups to include neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric.
• Perform miscellaneous job duties observed as directed by the Inpatient PhysicalMedicine Supervisor.

Position Details
