Job summary

Mercy is seeking an Occupational Therapist Assistant to support patient care under an OT's supervision. You will assist with initial assessments, document progress, and administer treatment modalities across age groups from neonatal to geriatric.

The role emphasizes compassionate care, adherence to Mercy standards, and collaboration with the Inpatient Physical Medicine team to promote education and optimal recovery outcomes.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited OTA program.
• Current license for COTA or eligible for licensure.
• BLS certification is required.
• Experience: One year preferred, new grads considered.

Responsibilities

• Assist with initial assessment on each patient under OT supervision.
• Document the course of patient care including progress notes and treatment needs.
• Administer modalities, exercise regimes, or treatment procedures per policy.
• Maintain progress notes and departmental records on each patient.
• Promote education within the department.
• Demonstrate knowledge of needs across age groups: neonatal to geriatric.
• Perform miscellaneous duties as directed by the Inpatient Physical Medicine Supervisor.

• Document the course of patient care including progress notes and the continuing need for treatment according to departmental policy.
• Administer appropriate modalities, exercise regimes, or treatment procedures according to departmental policies and procedures on standards of treatment care.
• Maintain progress notes and departmental records on each patient according to departmental policies regarding documentation and charges.
• Participate in promoting education within the department
• Demonstrates knowledge of special needs and behaviors of specific age groups to include neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric.
• Perform miscellaneous job duties observed as directed by the Inpatient Physical Medicine Supervisor.

• Licensure: Current license for Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant or eligible for licensure in state of practice.
• Experience: One year experience is preferred but will consider new graduates.
• Certifications: BLS certified. Required certifications must be current before assigned to care for patients independently.
