Job summary

Nassau Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Hempstead, NY seeks a compassionate Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our interdisciplinary rehabilitation team in a full-time role.

The COTA will help patients improve independence, participate in developing and implementing treatment plans, and document progress under OT supervision. NBCOT and state licensure are required, with nursing home experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
• NBCOT certification.
• Current state licensure/certification as required.
• Nursing home or skilled nursing experience preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the development and implementation of individualized patient treatment plans.
• Conduct therapeutic activities under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist.
• Monitor and document patient progress and communicate updates to the supervising OT.
• Instruct patients and families on treatment plans and proper use of therapeutic equipment.
• Support patients in improving cognitive, physical, and emotional functioning.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
• Modify treatment plans in collaboration with the Occupational Therapist as needed.
• Educate patients and families on daily tasks and rehabilitation activities.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to optimize patient outcomes.
