Qualifications

  • Proficient organizational and record keeping skills.

  • Ability to train clients, family members and professionals.
  • Exercise a high level of confidentiality.
  • Have a valid driver's license, auto insurance and reliable transportation available during working hours.

Responsibilities

  • Providing verbal and written reports of observations and client capacity with technical accuracy.
  • Following plans, objectives and procedures for treatment.
  • Selecting appropriate stimulus materials and treatment modalities for age and ability of the person served.
  • Giving clear concise instructions in presenting materials and/or techniques in therapy.
  • Recording and tracking daily progress accurately.
  • Utilizing time in sessions efficiently to meet objectives.
  • Providing accurate and immediate feedback to the child and family.
  • Participating in the planning for discharge of the child and family.
  • Attending Transdisciplinary Team Consultation Meetings (TTCM), IFSP's, Periodic Reviews, Annual Reviews, and Transition meetings as required.

Job description

MECA Therapies, LLC is looking for a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our professional team.

MECA Therapies is the largest pediatric rehabilitation provider in the state of New Mexico. Our mission is to strive every day towards ensuring that our families and their children have access to the highest quality of care in the communities we serve.

Provides Occupational Therapy services to include treatment to individuals age, birth to three with developmental delays and/or diagnosed conditions. These services will be conducted within a variety of environments in home and community settings.

EDUCATION AND LICENSURE

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

The COTA will operate within Local, State and Federal Regulations as well as adhere to all MECA policies and procedures. Essential duties include but are not limited to the following:


  1. Providing verbal and written reports of observations and client capacity with technical accuracy

  2. Following plans, objectives and procedures for treatment

  3. Selecting appropriate stimulus materials and treatment modalities for age and ability of the person served

  4. Giving clear concise instructions in presenting materials and/or techniques in therapy

  5. Recording and tracking daily progress accurately

  6. Utilizing time in sessions efficiently to meet objectives

  7. Providing accurate and immediate feedback to the child and family

  8. Participating in the planning for discharge of the child and family

  9. Attending Transdisciplinary Team Consultation Meetings (TTCM), IFSP's, Periodic Reviews, Annual Reviews, and Transition meetings as required
CASELOAD ASSIGNMENTS

The COTA will be assigned a weekly caseload from the respective program directors for each program they serve by:


  1. Carrying a caseload of 30 therapy hours per week equating to 1392 direct therapy hours per year or part time equivalent

  2. Providing services according to child's IFSP
PRODUCTIVITY

The COTA will achieve the expected productivity set by MECA Management.


  1. Achieving 90% performance goal
DOCUMENTATION

The COTA will accurately collect data for the child and families served and will ensure that the information is accurate and filed in a timely manner by adhering to the following:


  1. Documenting therapy sessions and progress or cancellation note at the time of visit into the MAPS database and is to be submitted daily.

  2. Completing progress notes with team at TTCM meeting

  3. Documenting TTCM meetings
STAFF DEVELOPMENT AND TRAINING

The COTA will provide the necessary support, training, and guidance in their provision of services to the persons served. The COTA must also comply with all mandatory trainings identified by their licensing board as well as trainings mandated by their respective supervisor(s) and/or MECA Therapies and adhering to the following:


  1. Consulting and provide in-house trainings to other staff members

  2. Maintaining appropriate licensure through the NM licensing board

  3. Attending mandatory staff meetings and trainings
SUPERVISION

A COTA may be asked to provide supervision for Student Interns and / or Observers. Supervision will be provided according to the MECA OT supervision guidelines.

QUALITY ASSURANCE

The COTA will maintain quality services for the persons served by adhering to the following:


  1. Acknowledging and respecting the rights of persons served at all times

  2. Ensuring all therapy and related activities are ethical and in compliance with MECA policies and procedures
