Requirements Job Description and Responsibilities

This is a full-time, hybrid role as a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) serving a school located in Las Vegas, NM.? The Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) will be responsible for providing therapy services to students, conducting assessments, developing IEP plans, evaluating progress, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams (therapists, educators, parents). The role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a passion for working with students with special needs.



Job Details


  • Full-time opportunity for the 2026?2027 academic year (August through May/June)

  • Serving students across Kindergarten through 12th grade

  • Primary responsibilities include direct therapy, evaluations, consultation services, and case management

  • Guaranteed paid hours, including time for documentation, planning, and administrative responsibilities

  • Primarily an on-site, school-based assignment

  • Limited hybrid flexibility may be available for IEP meetings and documentation, based on district needs

  • Collaborative support from both the partnering school district and the TheraPeds Partners team

  • Reasonable, well-supported caseloads

  • Competitive hourly compensation of $45?$65 (approximately $1,800?$2,437 per week)



Qualifications


  • Associate?s degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) program

  • Active New Mexico COTA license through the NM Regulation & Licensing Department?

  • NBCOT Certification

  • Completion of required supervised fieldwork minimum 16 weeks

  • Ability to work under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist (OT)

  • Experience working with children

  • Strong foundation in Sensory Integration and ability to identify and analyze areas of developmental and sensory-motor dysfunction

  • Organizational and time management skills

  • Proficient in use of technology

  • Fingerprint background clearance

  • Ability to collaborate with school staff and parents with a demonstrated ability to exercise a high level of tact and discretion in both internal and external communications



Physical Requirements

Working and playing with students requires that employees must be able to perform the necessary physical movement functions, as needed, such as lifting, sitting, walking, standing, crawling, and engaging with students in all physical locations and activities, while adhering to the duties outlined by the district.
