Job summary

Aspire Senior Living Malden is seeking a compassionate Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our skilled nursing team. You will assist with individualized treatment plans and support residents in reaching their daily functional goals.

This full-time day position emphasizes collaboration with therapists and nurses, documentation, and an evidence-based approach to promote safety, independence, and quality of life for geriatric residents in a resident-centered setting.

Qualifications

• Current Missouri COTA certification.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant preferred.
• Experience in long-term care or rehabilitation settings, with a geriatric focus.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with diverse groups.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to prioritize tasks.
• Ability to lift, transfer, and ambulate residents as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist occupational therapists in developing and implementing individualized treatment plans.
• Conduct OT assessments, evaluations, and treatments as directed by the OT.
• Collaborate with physicians, SLPs, PTs, and nurses for comprehensive care.
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss resident progress.
• Maintain accurate records of treatments, progress notes, and reports.
• Utilize evidence-based practices to promote resident independence, safety, and well-being.

Responsibilities

• Assist occupational therapists in developing and implementing individualized treatment plans to improve residents' physical, emotional, and cognitive function
• Conduct occupational therapy assessments, evaluations, and treatments, as directed by the occupational therapist
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including speech therapists, physical therapists, and nurses, to ensure comprehensive care
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss resident progress and develop effective care plans
• Maintain accurate and detailed records of treatments, progress notes, and reports
• Utilize evidence-based practices and techniques to promote resident independence, safety, and well-being

Requirements

• Current certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) in the state of Missouri
• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant preferred
• Experience working in long-term care or rehabilitation settings, with a focus on geriatric populations
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to prioritize tasks
• Ability to lift, transfer, and ambulate residents as needed; must be physically able to perform duties with minimal assistance
