Job Overview

We're looking for a dedicated COTA to support licensed occupational therapists in delivering high-quality therapy services to skilled nursing and long-term care residents. As a COTA, you will help clients achieve their functional goals and improve their quality of life. Responsibilities

• Assist licensed occupational therapists in developing and implementing personalized care plans tailored to each patient's needs
• Support patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), such as dressing, grooming, feeding, and mobility, ensuring safety and independence
• Facilitate treatment plan execution by applying manual handling techniques and therapeutic exercises aligned with physiologic and anatomical principles
• Collaborate closely with healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes
• Document care activities accurately in medical records while maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations and medical terminology standards
• Assist with patient transport within facilities or to external appointments, ensuring safe handling and communication throughout the process

Requirements

• Valid certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) from an accredited program
• Prior experience working in acute care, skilled nursing facilities, outpatient clinics, or home health environments is highly desirable
• Demonstrated ability to assist with ADLs and implement treatment plans effectively
• Knowledge of medical imaging procedures, care documentation standards, and medical terminology relevant to occupational therapy
• Experience working with individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism or disabilities requiring specialized interventions
• Strong communication skills for engaging with clients and caregivers to promote understanding and cooperation
• Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely while providing patient care in various settings
• Familiarity with inpatient or outpatient therapy protocols, including pediatrics and occupational health environments

Florida Background Screening Requirement

This position requires a Level 2 background screening through the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) Clearinghouse in accordance with Florida law. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of all required background screening.
