Advocate Healthcare Center of East Boston is seeking a motivated and compassionate Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation team. The COTA will work under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist to provide high-quality, resident-focused therapy services.

This position is full-time and open to new graduates as well as candidates with SNF experience.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree from ACOTE-accredited OTA program.
  • Current NBCOT certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant.
  • Active Massachusetts COTA license or eligibility before start date.
  • Ability to work under supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist and communicate effectively.
  • Experience in SNF, rehab, or post-acute care preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide OT treatments under supervision of a licensed OT.
  • Assist residents with ADLs, mobility, strength, coordination, and cognition.
  • Monitor and document resident progress and treatment responses.
  • Communicate with the supervising OT and care team.
  • Maintain documentation in accordance with policies and HIPAA.
  • Educate residents and caregivers on techniques and safety.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized treatment area.
  • Adhere to infection control and safety standards.

Schedule: Day shift; consistent full-time hours

Job Summary

Advocate Healthcare Center of East Boston is seeking a motivated and compassionate Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation team. The COTA will work under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist to provide high-quality, resident-focused therapy services. This position is full-time and open to new graduates as well as candidates with Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide occupational therapy treatments in accordance with established plans of care under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist

  • Assist residents in improving independence with activities of daily living (ADLs), functional mobility, strength, coordination, and cognitive skills

  • Monitor and document resident progress, responses to treatment, and any changes in condition

  • Communicate effectively with the supervising Occupational Therapist and interdisciplinary care team

  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation in compliance with facility policies and state and federal regulations

  • Educate residents and caregivers on therapeutic techniques, adaptive equipment, and safety strategies

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized treatment environment

  • Adhere to all infection control, safety, and HIPAA standards

Qualifications

Required

  • Associate degree from an ACOTE-accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program

  • Current NBCOT certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant

  • Active Massachusetts COTA license or eligibility to obtain prior to start date

  • Ability to work under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist

  • Strong communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to meet physical requirements of the position, including assisting residents with mobility and transfers

Preferred

  • Experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF), rehabilitation, or post-acute care setting

  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR)

  • BLS/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)

Experience
  • New graduates are encouraged to apply

  • SNF or post-acute care experience preferred but not required

  • Relevant clinical fieldwork experience will be considered
