Job summary

Valley View Care Center in Delano, CA is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant to support the OT team in a skilled nursing setting. You will assist with patient assessments, treatment plans, and direct therapy under supervision, helping residents maximize independence.

The role emphasizes collaboration with nursing and therapy staff, adherence to regulations, and ongoing professional growth within a supportive rehab team and flexible scheduling.

Qualifications

• Must have strong communication skills to maintain positive relationships with residents, families, staff, physicians, and agencies.
• Knowledge of local, state, and federal guidelines and regulations is required.
• Certification as an Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) in the practicing state is required.
• Long-term care or skilled nursing experience is preferred.
• High school diploma required and licensure/credentialing up to date.

Responsibilities

• Assist in assessing and interpreting evaluations and test results; help determine treatment plans in consultation with physicians or prescriptions.
• Maintain productivity as directed by Rehabilitation leadership.
• Assist residents develop or regain function through activities of daily living, sensorimotor, and recreational activities; supervise aides and assistants.
• Other duties may be assigned with or without notice.

Position Description

Responsible for assisting the Occupational Therapist and/or supervisor in the overall day to day operations of occupational therapy services of the center. Provides assistance in coordination with other divisions, departments and nursing staff to ensure that quality care is provided and to support the goals and objectives of the company. Promotes wellness through the assistance of completion of patient assessment, care planning, direct treatment and consultation to a general rehab caseload.

Principal Responsibilities

• Meets the resident’s goals and needs and provides quality care by assisting in the assessing and interpreting evaluations and test results; determining occupational therapy treatment plans in consultation with physicians or by prescription.
• Maintain productivity as set forth by the Director of Rehabilitation and/or Regional Director.
• Helps residents develop or regain physical or mental functioning or adjust to disabilities by assisting in the implementation of programs involving manual arts and crafts, practice in functional, prevocational, vocational, and homemaking skills, activities of daily living, and sensorimotor, educational, recreational, and social activities; directing aides, technicians, and assistants.
• Other duties, responsibilities and activities may change or assigned at any time with or without notice.

Qualifications

• Highschool Diploma required.
• Must be a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant in the state in which practiced.
• Experience in long term care or skilled nursing, preferred.
• Possess effective communication skills to maintain positive relationship with residents, families, staff, physicians, consultants, providers, and governmental agencies, their representatives and the community.
• Current knowledge of local, state and federal guidelines and regulations.
