Job summary

Norwich Rehabilitation & Nursing Center is seeking an Occupational Therapy Assistant (OT Aide) with a current NYS license to provide therapy services under physician orders. The role emphasizes teamwork, patient education, and adherence to regulatory policies in a geriatric care setting.

The ideal candidate has an associate degree in occupational therapy and is comfortable working independently while coordinating with staff, residents and families.

Qualifications

• Must possess a current unencumbered NYS license as an Occupational Therapy Assistant.
• Graduate of an accredited school with an associate’s degree in occupational therapy.
• Geriatric experience preferred.
• A current unrestricted driver’s license and dependable transportation.
• Ability to communicate professionally with internal and external resources.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Ability to give and receive oral and written direction.

Responsibilities

• Provides Occupational Therapy plans of treatments and modalities per physician orders.
• Communicate tactfully with residents, families, visitors and staff.
• Interact effectively with residents with various impairments.
• Train, supervise and discipline subordinate staff as needed.
• Assist in planning and implementing department goals and policies.
• Document resident progress toward OT goals.
• Maintain daily activity schedules and progress notes per policy.
• Provide education to residents, staff and families as directed.
• Comply with Federal and State rehabilitation regulations.
• Use clinical software per policies and procedures.
• Assist in ordering equipment for facility and residents.
• Maintain confidentiality of facility and resident information.
• Report suspected resident abuse or misappropriation immediately.
• Follow sanitation and infection control policies.

• Must possess the ability to assist in planning, organizing and implementing the goals, objectives and policies and procedures of the department

• Documents resident progress toward occupational therapy goals

• Completes Daily Activity Schedule and progress notes per facility policy.

• Provides resident, staff and family education as directed

• Complies with Federal and State regulations related to rehabilitation therapy

• Utilizes the clinical software applications per policies and procedures

• Assists in ordering necessary equipment for the facility and residents

• Complies with all facility policies and procedures

• Maintains confidentiality of facility and resident information

• Reports all instances of potential resident abuse, neglect, and misappropriation of resident property immediately

• Follows sanitation and infection control policies and procedures
