The Opportunity:

The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) will implement therapeutic programs prescribed by occupational therapists to meet individual student needs based on IEP goals. The COTA will work with students across multiple sites in grades PreK-12.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement therapeutic activities under the supervision of the occupational therapist, focusing on developing fine motor, visual motor, and sensory skills
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and special education staff to develop service plans, educate about accommodations, and provide recommendations
  • Assist in monitoring progress toward goals by collecting and maintaining data
  • Maintain communication with occupational therapists to review caseloads and services
  • Adapt classroom tools and environment to facilitate student access and functioning
  • Document therapy sessions, track progress, and prepare reports
  • Support in setting new goals through data analysis
  • Participate in professional development related to special education and pediatric occupational therapy

Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s preferred
  • Valid license from the California Board of Occupational Therapy
  • Fluency in Spanish and English preferred
  • Valid California Driver’s License and vehicle insurance
  • Experience or commitment to team collaboration in a dynamic environment
  • Ability to handle confidential information professionally
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Strong judgment, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and organize effectively
  • Understanding of urban charter school contexts and student needs
