Join the Inova Fairfax Hospital as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant! This position is located in an INPATIENT ADULT ACUTE CARE UNIT within a level 1 trauma center. Candidates must have hospital and acute care experience. We offer a collaborative team environment with ample opportunities for mentorship and professional development. The role is full-time, Monday through Friday, with 8-hour shifts and weekend rotation.

Job Responsibilities

1. Document patient progress clearly and legibly within established timeframes to support ongoing treatment, reimbursement, and continuity of care.
2. Participate in department/clinic educational and training efforts, including in-services, student supervision, CPR, new hire orientation, and quality initiatives.
3. Manage department expenses and resources responsibly, including supplies, equipment, and billing.
4. Select appropriate treatment methods based on patient diagnosis, age, and emotional/physical status.
5. Adjust treatment plans as patients progress or regress, ensuring optimal care.
6. Notify primary PT/OT of non-routine changes, discharge issues, or other circumstances requiring reassessment.
7. Educate patients and families on home exercises, safety, transfers, caregiving, and adaptive equipment use.
8. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) upon start.
• Licensure: Licensed Occupational Therapist Assistant upon start; VA license required.
• Experience: Graduate of an approved certified occupational therapy assistant program.
• Education: Associate's degree from an accredited occupational therapy assistant program.
